23 Baby Registry Must Haves

Sharing is caring!

Putting together a baby registry can be overwhelming, especially for first-time moms! So I have created a list of baby registry must haves from my own registry with items that I loved.

There are a few things to keep in mind before we dive in. Make sure your registry has items with a wide range in prices to ensure everyone can afford something. That being said, don’t be afraid to register for big ticket items. Sometimes multiple people will go in on items together.

As fun as baby clothes may be to look at online, don’t register for them. People will likely buy you baby clothes, and it’s probably better to take care of what you think you might need later.

You never know how fast your baby will grow, which can make it difficult to figure out what size you need for what season. If you buy too many clothes ahead of time and your baby is off the charts for weight and length, you may end up with a lot of clothes that never get worn.

There are some registries that may offer discounts on items that don’t get purchased. Plus, it’s also a good way to keep track of everything you’d like to purchase before or soon after baby arrives. Pregnancy brain is a real thing, and it’s amazing how forgetful you can become.

Amazon Baby Registry

Amazon is a great place to create a baby registry! You get a FREE welcome box valued up to $35, you can add any item from other sites, and you get a 10% discount on items that weren’t purchased.

If you’re a prime member, you get 15% off items not purchased! For most items on your registry, you’ll get 365 days to return. Amazon registries also have group gifting, so multiple people can contribute towards bigger gifts.

1. Halo Sleepsack Swaddle

You should register for at least two Halo Sleepsack Swaddles to make sure you always have one that is clean. These swaddles helped my baby to sleep, which meant ALL of us got to sleep. We tried putting her to bed without the sleepsack a few times, and she would startle herself awake within minutes because of the moro reflex.

2. Boppy Nursing Pillow

If you are planning to nurse, the Boppy Nursing Pillow will make your life so much easier. When sitting, the Boppy made my favorite nursing positions, which were cradle hold and football hold, SO much easier to manage.

3. Boppy Newborn Lounger

The Boppy Newborn Lounger was a great place to set my newborn down if I needed a minute or two to do something else, like wash my hands or grab a snack. I also used this to set her down on the couch next to me if I needed a break from holding her. As an added bonus, the Boppy Newborn Lounger allowed me to sit with the least amount of pain.

4. Lansinoh Nipple cream

You are really going to want Lansinoh Nipple Cream if you are planning to breastfeed. It is common for breastfeeding to be painful in the beginning, and this product really helped to heal, soothe, and protect my nipples.

5. Skip Hop Pronto Portable Diaper Changing station

The Skip Hop Changing Station is really convenient for changing baby on the go, whether you’re out for a walk or running errands. It’s small, lightweight, it can store diapers, and it comes with a changing pad and a wipes container. You can clip it to your stroller or wrist if you want. I usually just throw it in the undercarriage of my stroller.

6. JuJuBe Diaper Bag

I love my JuJuBe Diaper Bag. It’s small, but holds a lot. You can use it as a messenger bag or a backpack, which is how I typically wear it. The bag is machine washable, which is amazing because it can get kinda gross pretty quickly.

It also includes a foam changing pad and cell phone pocket. This is great for me because I don’t carry my purse when I’m carrying my diaper bag. It would just be one extra thing that I have to lug around.

7. Changing pad

I like the Summer 4-sided changing pad because it has contoured walls on all sides. The material is also really easy to clean, which has been helpful when my baby had blowouts or peed while I was changing her.

8. Infant Optics Baby Monitor

I wanted the Infant Optics Baby Monitor because you don’t have to connect it to your internet. It does operate on the 2.4GHz channel so while your microwave is in use, it may temporarily interfere with the signal from the camera.

Luckily, since you probably don’t spend hours microwaving things, this shouldn’t be an issue. I love the night vision and the fact that you can adjust the camera with the monitor.

9. Baby hooded towels

These hooded towels are great for bath time. They are gentle against my baby’s delicate skin, and the hood keeps my baby’s head warm while I’m drying her off.

10. Onesies With Mitten Cuffs

I had major postpartum anxiety, and was constantly afraid that my baby was going to scratch her face. These Moon and Back newborn onesies with mitten cuffs were great because, unlike with her mittens, I didn’t have to worry about them falling off her hands or losing them. That is why they were one of my favorite baby registry must haves.

If you do get these onesies, make sure to buy the preemie or newborn sizes because those are the only sizes that come with mitten cuffs.

11. Graco Table2Table Premier Fold 7 in 1 Convertible High Chair

I love this high chair because you can convert it to an infant highchair, a fully featured high chair, infant booster seat, toddler booster seat, toddler chair, toddler sized table and chair, and you can convert to a toddler chair and booster for 2 kids to use. It folds away easily for storage.

12. Boon Lawn Countertop Drying Rack

This Boon Drying Rack, which is another one of my favorite baby registry must haves, is a necessity if you plan to pump or feed your baby formula. It easily holds bottles and pump parts upright, and collects water in the removable tray below.

13. WubbaNub Pacifier

This is a great pacifier because your baby can put it back in if it falls out. Plus it’s also easier to find when it gets dropped.

14. Fisher-Price Deluxe Gym

My baby loves this deluxe gym! It’s a fun way for her to have some independent play, get some wiggles out, and strengthen her muscles and fine motor skills. It was really exciting to watch her continuously get better at grabbing and manipulating small objects! Definitely another one of my favorite baby registry must haves.

15. Baby Dove baby wash and Lotion

I’ve always loved Dove products. I have very sensitive skin, and have broken out in rashes from using very common skincare brands such as Neutrogena. Now I use Dove soap, and haven’t had any issues since. Therefore, it’s not surprising that I wanted to use Dove products for my baby! She has had zero issues with Dove baby wash and lotion, and I would definitely recommend them. It’s always a good idea to put baby lotion on your baby after a bath, since baths can dry out their skin.

16. Fisher-Price 4-in-1 Sling n’ seat tub

This Fisher-Price tub is great because it grows with your baby! It has a mesh sling for newborns, the seat is a baby stopper for when baby outgrows the sling but needs to lay down, the seat is for when baby can hold up her head but needs assistance while sitting, and then you can remove the seat when your baby can easily sit on her own.

17. Bumkins SuperBibs

These Bumkins bibs are machine washable, adjustable, and have pockets to contain spills. They are also very easy to wipe clean. We haven’t been using them for very long yet, but from reading reviews, they seem to be durable and last for a long time. Stay tuned!

18. Aden + Anais Swaddle Blankets

I love these. I found that swaddle blankets with less stretch made it easier to swaddle my baby. These were great for when she was a newborn, and she was tired and struggling to take a nap. I also used them as burp cloths.

19. Fisher-Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat

My baby was SO excited the first time I put her in this sit-me-up floor seat! She smiled, laughed, and kicked her legs. It was so cute! It gave her enough support to sit up even though she wasn’t capable of doing so on her own yet. Keep in mind that your baby’s neck has to be strong enough to hold up her head in order to use this seat.

20. Delta Sweet Beginnings Bassinet

This bassinet worked very well for us. It was affordable, and allowed our baby to sleep right by our bed. I removed the canopy because I wasn’t a fan, and we only used it at night so we didn’t need it to block out light. It also has a nightlight and music, but we never used either.

21. Baby Basics Care Kit by FridaBaby

You need this Baby Basics Kit in your life! This is one of my most used baby registry must haves, and I still use it all the time today. It comes with nail clippers, a nail file, snot sucker, gas relief tubes, and a baby bath brush for eczema and cradle cap.

I use the snot sucker the most, but you have to be careful to suck gently. If you use it too much or suck too hard, you could irritate your baby’s skin or potentially even rupture her ear drums. I use Little Remedies saline spray to loosen up mucus before using the snot sucker.

22. Baby Swing

Baby swings were some of my favorite baby registry must haves for giving me desperately needed breaks. I spent a lot of time holding her as a newborn, and, no matter how much I loved holding her, sometimes I really needed a break. These swings helped her to stay happy when I wasn’t holding her. I used the 4moms Mamaroo swing, which has five motions and speeds. It also has sounds, but I never used them.

The Graco DuetConnect swing has also been a really great swing for my baby. It has six swinging speeds, ten melodies, and five nature sounds.

23. Bottles

My baby has been using Philips Avent bottles since she was a newborn, and they work great! If you are going to be breastfeeding and using bottles, you may want to use the size 1 slow flow nipples. Slow flow nipples do exactly what it sounds like they do. They allow for a slower flow of milk, which more closely mimics the rate at which breasts release milk.
